Aveeno Positively Ageless Lifting & Firming Eye Cream

I've been using Aveeno eye cream end of last year, 2012, and I'm almost to the end of this product. I better review this product before I finish it.

Where to purchase: drugstores, mass merchandiser, and online at aveeno.com
Price: about $17.99 for 0.5 fl oz/ 15mL

Made in Canada

Description from the back: A moisturizing eye cream that works with your unique skin and is clinically shown to
* visibly lift and firm skin around the eyes
* reduce appearance of lines and wrinkles
* visibly reduce dark circles and brighten appearance of eye area
And because it's from Aveeno it's gentle enough for even sensitive skin.
Ingredients:
Thoughts: When I first received this product, I was excited to try an eye cream to prevent future aging. Before I talk about the product, let's talk about the packaging. I want to apologize for not taking many pictures of this product. I also want to apologize for not the greatest quality first picture. I took it long time ago before using this product. I honestly think I take better pictures now.

Now for the packaging... I'm not too sure if this is an older version of the eye cream. On the box, it says "NEW!" but the picture from the Aveeno website is different. So I really cannot say. If this is a newer version, I actually like the packaging. It reminds me of a lotion in a smaller version, mini-size. It's so cute and I hardly see eye creams in a pump container. Most eye creams come in a tube or a jar. I tend to like my eye creams in a tube and now pump container. It's just sanitary safe. I also like that we have full control of the amount the product pumps. Sometimes the pump squeezes a certain amount which you have no control over. It can pump more or less of what you need. There is no issue with this product.

Now for the scent... It smells like most Aveeno products, sweet and fruity. If you don't like fruity scents, you don't have to worry. You hardly can smell the product while using it on your eyes.
Here's a swatch of the eye cream. It's on the thicker consistency with a slight yellow tone.

Now for my opinion.... This eye cream is definitely meant for people who want to prevent aging around the skin. For that reason, the consistency is thick and it moisturizes the area. If you have oily lids, it can be on the heavy side. If you have dry lids and under eyes, it will hydrate it. I wouldn't say it's the most moisturizing product out there, but it's decent. I also like that it's easy to apply and sinks into your skin. It's very quick and you do not have to wait a long time for it to absorb. Like I said, it's good to prevent aging. If you already have wrinkles and dark circle, this product isn't for you. I have wrinkles or my co-worker would say I have a lot of laugh lines *sigh* and slight dark circle. After using this product, I have not noticed any difference or any improvements.

Pros:
* Aveeno; a brand that uses natural ingredients.
* Cute packaging; a mini-size lotion.
* Comes in a pump.
* Full control of the amount it pumps.
* Sanitary safe.
* Sweet, fruity scent.
* Scent isn't noticeable on the eyes.
* Easy application.
* Absorbs quickly.
* Prevents future aging and dark circles.

Cons:
* If you have oily lids, can be on the heavy side.
* Will not improve already seen wrinkles and dark circle.

Would repurchase: No.

Nivea Lip Butter

When I heard Nivea was coming out with flavored lip products in a tin, I knew I had to get them. So when I saw these at my local drugstores, I grabbed two out of the four they came out with.
I bought Rasberry Rose Kiss and Caramel Cream Kiss. The other two were Smooth Kiss, no flavor, and Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss, not a fan of vanilla.
When I opened the Caramel Cream Kiss, the scent was way too strong for me. I ended up giving this to my dad.
Here's the ingredient for Caramel Cream Kiss. They're all similar but slight different.

Where to purchase: drugstores, mass merchandiser, and online at niveausa.com
Price: $3.99 for 0.59 oz/ 16.7 g

Made in Belgium

Description from the website:
* Enriched with Shea Butter and Almond Oil to intensely moisturize and soothe dry lips for a long-lasting care.
* Rich formula melts onto lips providing long-lasting nourishment to make all your kisses better.
Ingredients:
Thoughts: Out of all the flavors that came out, I was most excited about the Raspberry Rose Kiss. It's actually the only one I ended up liking! Before I talk about the product, lets talk about the packaging. When I first saw this product at the drugstore, I was shocked how tiny the product was. I was expecting it to be the same size as Smith's Rosebud Salve.
When I got home and compared them, they're actually not that different in diameter. Nivea is a little bit tinier but not by much.
With width, there's a huge difference. Nivea is half the size of Smith's Rosebud Salve. Then I looked at the net weight, and there isn't that much of a difference. Smith's Rosebud Salve is 0.8 oz/ 22 g and Nivea is 0.59 oz/ 16.7 g. Even though Nivea is tinier, it's easier to carry around. I also like the packaging. It's matte, therefore, you will not see fingerprints. I also cannot see future scratches on the tin. The quality of the picture is gorgeous and well-made. It just reminds me of a matte photograph wrapped around the tin.

Now for the scent, it's heavenly! It smells like raspberry, but it doesn't last that long on the lips. I would say for couple of minutes and then the scent is gone. Either it just disappeared or my nose got used to the scent that I don't notice it anymore.
Here's a swatch of the lip butter. It looks clear, but I was shocked it isn't on my lips. My lip actually turn light pink after applying this product. By the way, my lip is pinker than most people. Everything turns brighter on my pink lips. If you have brown around the edges of your lip, I highly doubt this will turn your lip light pink as it does on me.

Overall opinion... I'm amazed by this product! I was expecting the consistency to be the same as Smith's Rosebud Salve, but it isn't. Nivea is thicker in consistency. So when you apply the lip butter on your lips, you can tell the thickness. It feels like you're applying non-greasy lipstick. It also doesn't feel like a butter as in it melts into your skin and in this case, your lips. It's just layered over it. With Smith's Rosebud Salve, I can feel it sort of melts into your lip especially when it's dry. So with this dry, winter weather I will need to use a lot of Smith's Rosebud Salve. Even though I use a lot, my lip isn't totally conditioned. Compared to other products, I get the best results with Smith's Rosebud Salve until now. Nivea Lip Butter moisturizes my lip like no other! I noticed the difference the first time I applied this product. It's amazing! My dry, cracked lip was heal and felt like my summer lips.

Pros:
* Nivea; a brand I trust.
* Cute packaging; looks like a professional photograph.
* Tiny; easy to carry.
* Matte finish; no fingerprints.
* Fruity scent.
* Color; light pink.
* Hint of light pinkness on the lips.
* Thick consistency; does not bother me.
* Not greasy/sticky.
* Hydrating/moisturizing.

Cons:
* Wish there were more varieties in flavor; wishing for the future.
* Does not melt into your lips.

Would repurchase: Hell yeah!

I'm going to end this post with another of Mariah Carey's Liquid Sand nail polish by OPI.
This is Get Your Number. For some reason, it reminds me of Wizard of Oz and the fairy good witch. Don't ask me why but that's the first thing that came to mind after applying the nail polish. I got more compliments on this color than Stay the Night but I prefer the other one. The other one is more unique!

Flocking Velvet Nail

Born Pretty Store is most known for their nail art products. I was fortunate to receive Flocking Powder Manicure Nail Art Nail Polish.
They have many colors you can choose from including red, black, green, and so on. I decided to get hot pink. Not only that, they were kind enough to send me a brush. Before I review the flocking powder, let me tell you about the brush.
They included Nail Brush for Fun Flocking Powder Manicure Nail Art. I did not realize until now that you can actually just buy the brush by itself. My initial reaction was that this brush reminded me of brushes that come with drugstore blushes. The drugstore blushes that comes to mind are Milani and Physicians Formula. They have similar kind of brushes. After my initial reaction, I realized the brush isn't sturdy and some hairs are sticking out. Even though the hairs are sticking out, it doesn't shed. Overall, this brush is good for brushing the flocking powder. I definitely recommend this for anything related to nail art!

Now for my review...
Product Review: Flocking Powder Manicure Nail Art Nail Polish in Hot Pink

Where to purchase: bornprettystore.com
Price: $5.80 for about 13 g

Description from the website:
How to use:
1. Lay down old newspapers or plastic to protect the work area.
2. Apply base coat on your nails, wait to dry.
3. Apply nail polish (the same color as the Velvet Powder), wait to dry.
4. Apply nail polish again, then immediately put the Velvet Powder on your nail, then allow to dry (use the Tweezer to mix the Velvet Powder before using).
5. Use the black brush to sweep away any excess Velvet, which can be capture in the accompanying tray. Don't discard it - pour it back into the bottle.
6. Because of the 3D texture, there's no need for a top coat.
Thoughts: I was extremely excited about this product! Last year, the biggest thing was caviar nails. I know this year the biggest thing or at least the beginning of this year will be velvet nails. For that reason, I wanted to try this product out.
The product is fluffy, soft, and just looks cool in my opinion. They also give you a lot of Velvet Powder to last you a long time.

I love that Born Pretty Store made a video on this product. It looks really easy and something a beginner can do. Let me tell you it is pretty easy! It's also not that messy as I thought it would be. You will definitely need a newspaper or a recyclable paper. Other than that, it doesn't spread beyond.
Here's a look I came out with. I used the Velvet Powder on my ring finger and I tried to do some nail art with the powder. If you're doing the Velvet Powder by itself, it is easy. If you want to do nail art with the powder, I do not recommend it. It's hard and doesn't look that great. I used the powder on the pinks on the index and middle finger.

Overall opinion... if you want a fun look that's in at the moment, this is it. It's easy to use, not that messy, and the best part you do not need a top coat. After I painted my nails, I just kept looking at the Velvet Powder. I just loved it! As time went on, days, the Velvet Powder would disappear and I could see my naked nails. By the way, I used all OPI nail polishes on my nails. It's not a long lasting product. I guess the pro is that it's fun and hip, but it doesn't last long.

Pros:
* Fun, hip look!
* Comes in a variety of colors.
* Easy to use.
* Can use any brush and Tweezer.
* Amount of product will last you a long time.

Cons:
* Does not include the brush and Tweezer.
* Does not last long.

Would repurchase: Maybe in other colors.

Mont Bleu Swarovski Crystals

Beginning of this year, 2013, I was blessed to receive a package from Mont Bleu. If you don't know Mont Bleu,

"Mont Bleu Ltd Company is one of the world leading suppliers of glass nail files. Our glass nail files are made of high quality Czech glass; they are decorated by patterns, or by Swarovski crystals. At present our company is growing, and we became one of the main producers of the accessories decorated with original Swarovski crystals in Europe."

I took the quote from the website, because they said it better than I could. I was fortunate to work with them last year, 2012, and received wonderful accessories. I reviewed one of their glass nail files, and compact mirror. I highly recommend their products. Now only is the accessories gorgeous, they're great quality products! So when I received the package this year, I was shocked with the amount of accessories they sent me.
I received two glass nail files, earring, Tweezer, and a pen.

The first glass nail file is Swarovski glass nail file W-M5. I could be wrong because there's a slight change in order of the crystal colors (not really noticeable), but the design is the same. This is the closest one I could find with the same design from the website.
Here's a closer look of the crystals. Isn't it gorgeous!?! I just adore blue, my favorite color, crystals.
This is the second glass nail file I received. I could not find the same design on the website, but they have a Zodiac line if you are interested.
Here's a closer look at the crystal. Yes, I'm a Taurus. They asked me through e-mail, but I wasn't sure for what reason. Now I know and I think it's such a sweet gesture! :)

I will not be reviewing their glass nail files in a future post since I already reviewed one. If you're a professional or someone who enjoys doing nail art, I highly recommend glass nail files. Once you use glass nail files, other are not in comparable!

Here's the Tweezer I received. I believe it's Swarovski Tweezers CT-1.2 Purple, but again not 100% sure. The color and the crystals match, but the shape of the Tweezer is different. I will review this in a future post so my readers can know how the Tweezers match up to other Tweezers I own.

Accessories weren't the only things they sent me. I receive a studded earring. Oh mi goodness, I have to say this is my favorite piece from the package! They're just extremely gorgeous!!! Again, I'm not 100% sure but it looks like it's Austrian Crystal Earrings EMB11.3.
Here's a closer look at the earring. Yes, the colors are versatile. It all depends on what angle you look at. Gorgeous! I will not review this product but it's a great quality product. I highly recommend it!

The last thing I received was a pen. It's Pen with Swarovski Blue on White PFS-1BL.
A closer look at the crystal at the top of the pen.
Here's a look at the tip of the pen. It looks like it would be a medium-tip, but it's actually fine-tip. This will make a great gift for anyone!

Ulta 2012 Holiday Haul

I know this is late, but I know some of you guys enjoy haul post. I thought I would post my special, not the typical, haul from Ulta. My first purchase was during Black Friday.  I never imagined I would ever go shopping at midnight. I cannot stand crowds, but I couldn't resist.
I got Tarte Baby It's Bold Outside set. It was a special Tarte collaboration with Ulta for the holiday.
It included Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Flush, Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow in Slate, and Bamboo Cream Eyeshadow brush. You will see a lot of Tarte reviews this year. For some odd reason, I've been into Tarte products lately.

The next haul was during Christmas or close to Christmas. They had this special offer through e-mail.
When you open the front cover, they give you two looks (natural and dramatic night).
Then they show a picture of the products inside the box except for the eyeshadow. It's the real deal on the bottom left.
The set comes with Starry-Eyed Baked Eye Shadow Trio in LoracStar, Front Of The Line Pro in Black (eyeliner), Multiplex 3D Lashes in Black (mascara), Blush in Soul, Couture Shine Liquid Lipstick in Trend Setter, and tutorial notebook.

I will review products that are still in the market. If not, I never see a point to review something people cannot get. If you want to see anything, feel free to ask. :)

I'm going to end this post with NOTW.
I've been in love with Mariah Carey's Liquid Sand Collection from OPI. This is Stay the Night. It's a gorgeous textured matte finish infused with reflective glints of light. I will make a post on this collection soon after I try all the polishes.
